Mindful Sipping
Hello June✨
As summer settles in with brightness and warmth, I found myself wanting to reset and refresh. This month, focusing on mindful sipping and turning toward what feels nourishing, grounding, and intentional. That’s why I’m dedicating June to mocktails, rooted in Ayurveda - an ancient Indian system promoting balance of the mind and body.
What makes these mocktails Ayurvedic?
Each mocktail I’m creating this month will highlight ingredients that help soothe pitta ( internal body heat) in this season, such as:
Sabja seeds (basil seeds): cooling, great for digestion
Tulsi (holy basil): stress-relieving and balance
Rosewater: calming
Coconut water: hydrating and replenishing
Citrus + mint: energizing, refreshing, and digestive-friendly
Each drink is built with intention, in both function and aesthetic.
Featured Sip: Blueberry Sabja Refresher
The first recipe in this series features blueberry-infused sabja seeds. What are sabja seeds?
Sabja seeds (also called sweet basil seeds) are tiny black seeds that have been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries.
When soaked in water, they expand similar to chia seeds but even lighter and more cooling.
In Ayurveda, sabja is known for its ability to calm the digestive system and hydrate the body.
They’re commonly used in Indian drinks like falooda, but I believe they’re also a beautiful, functional addition to modern mocktails, especially in the summer!
You can find them in Indian grocery stores or online.
