A chai’d up Matcha

Meet the Strawberry Matcha Chai Latte Cocktail, a creamy, iced drink that brings sweet strawberries, earthy matcha, and spiced chai into a perfect, yet unexpected harmony. It’s bold, cooling, and a little chaotic in the best way. Enjoy it as your morning coffee choice or a brunch cocktail with the addition of Vodka and coffee liqueur!

Why it Works:

This latte was born from my original Strawberry Matcha Chai-tini cocktail, I was craving something chilled and softened and made for everyday sipping.

  • The chai brings warmth with notes of cinnamon, cardamom, and clove.

  • The matcha adds a calm, grounding depth that cools down the spice.

  • Strawberry is the unexpected bridge, fruity and bright.

  • And oat milk ties it all together into a dreamy, balanced pour.

Recipe:

1.5 oz Vodka (optional)

1 oz Chai spice syrup or 2 oz brewed chai tea

2 oz Oat milk (whole milk also works well)

For the foam:

1 tbsp Strawberry pureè

2 tbsp Heavy whipping cream

1 tbsp Milk

Sweetener (optional)

For the matcha:

Make as directed- use about 1-1.5 oz for matcha layer

Method:

  1. In a shaker, combine vodka (optional), chai syrup or brewed chai, milk of choice, and coffee liqueur (cocktail version)

  2. Add ice and shake until chilled

  3. Pour into a cocktail glass filled with ice

  4. Matcha Layer: Whisk matcha until light and foamy then slowly pour over coffee cocktail

  5. Strawberry foam: Froth all ingredients using a handheld frother or a blender until foam is light and airy and spoon or pour over the matcha layer

  6. Optional garnish: Matcha powder, Edible flowers, strawberry slice
